Stoke 47 Redcar 43 STOKE Easy Rider Potters ground out a hard fought victory to maintain their one hundred per cent home league record as they defeated the Redcar Bears 47-43 at Loomer Road on Saturday night despite losing skipper Lee Complin due to a wrist injury. The Potters went behind as early as heat one as Ty Proctor and former Potters skipper Robbie Kessler teamed up for a 5-1 over Jason Bunyan and Jesper Kristiansen, with Bears number one Proctor lowering the Loomer Road track record down to 60.5 defeating Lee Complin’s old record set last year by 0.1 of a second. The Potters were level in the next as Tom P Madsen and Craig Branney gained maximum points over Arlo Bugeja after Stuart Swales retired with an engine problem. Redcar then provided three race winners in the next three heats but with Potters riders filling the minor placings the scores remained deadlocked at 15 all after five races. Potters duo Kristiansen and Bunyan then gained a 5-1 heat advantage over former World Champion Gary Havelock, Kristiansen driving around the outside of Havelock on the first lap before Bunyan dived up the inside of Havelock off the final bend to take second place to put the Potters in front for the first time in the evening as Stoke go into a 20-16 lead after six heats. Redcar struck back to level the scores in the next heat as they returned the compliment with Ben Wilson and veteran Carl Stonehewer gaining maximum points over Robert Ksiezak and Craig Branney to level the scores up at 21 points all. Klaus Jakobsen took victory in heat nine from Havelock with Bugeja taking third place after Stoke skipper Lee Complin took a tumble, the Potters rider was obviously in quite a bit of discomfort and after receiving medical attention was withdrawn from the meeting with a wrist injury. Bunyan took victory in heat ten after overhauling the impressive Ben Wilson who had led the race for two laps before the Potters number one got some drive up the inside of Wilson to take a comfortable victory in the end but with Stonehewer finishing third the scores remained level at 30 points each. The Easy Rider Potters continued to prove they are a dangerous team in the latter heats and again produced a match winning performance the final three races as Jason Bunyan took victory from Havelock in heat thirteen while Robert Ksiezak held out the previously unbeaten Ty Proctor to put the Potters back in front with a 4-2 heat advantage to give the Stoke a 40-38 lead with just two heats to go. Tom P Madsen answered his critics in heat fourteen as he replaced the injured Complin and stormed to victory and keep the Potters two point lead over the Bears going into the final race. Jason Bunyan made no mistake in heat fifteen as he took a comfortable victory from Ty Proctor and with Robert Ksiezak again taking a vital third place keeping Ben Wilson at bay for a Potters 4-2 heat win to give Stoke a 47-43 victory over the Bears. Team boss John Woolridge said “We always knew Redcar would be a difficult meeting and it most certainly proved to be. “I’m pleased with the victory although it is another point dropped with Redcar only losing by four points they take a point home with them and that’s a little disappointing. “I felt we dug deep and got a decent result in the end. “It was a blow losing Lee as he has been really riding well, but the lads did well and got us over the finishing line to put another two points on the board for us.” Potters number one Jason Bunyan said “After losing Lee it was backs to the wall and as he has been scoring double figure scores around here and it was a big loss, but we stuck at it and the determination of the team gained us a good victory. “The track caught us out a little as it was slicker than expected and Redcar are used to riding on a slick track but one we’d all got things sorted out we knew we could match them at the top end of the team and that it would come down to the second strings and reserves and we needed ours to do the business over theirs and they did just that. “The new lads are settling in well and have become as passionate about winning as the rest of us and Robert is enjoying his racing here now and Craig is not far behind, his scores do not justify the effort being put in and we’re all helping him in the pits and I’m sure he will come good.” Bunyan continued “I want to win and want the team to win and I’m really enjoying my time here at Stoke and have told Dave that I want to return here next season and we can hopefully build the team around a few of us, it may take a year or two to turn things around and we have to be realistic you can’t go from bottom three of four to the top straight away and after past Stoke performances I feel we are going in the right direction and remaining unbeaten at home in the league this season has got to be an improvement on past seasons, so hopefully next season we can improve even more and start challenging and picking up some away wins.” Craig Branney said “I’m struggling at the gate and it’s very frustrating for me as I want to score more. “Jason is helping me along with the rest of the lads and having Crabby in the pits is also a help and there is such a great team spirit here it’s great, and if I have to ride every damn night of the week to sort out my gating I’ll do it.” Stoke 47: Jason Bunyan 12+1, Tom P Madsen 11+1, Klaus Jakobsen 7+2, Robert Ksiezak 7, Jesper Kristiansen 4+1, Craig Branney 3+2, Lee Complin 3+1, Redcar 43: Ty Proctor 11, Ben Wilson 11, Gary Havelock 8, Robbie Kessler 5+1, Carl Stonehewer 4+3, Arlo Bugeja 2+1, Stuart Swales 2 The Potters return to action tonight (Sunday) when they make the trip to Cumbria to face the Workington Comets in Premier League action. The Potters will be without skipper Lee Complin who had to withdraw from last night’s victory over the Redcar Bears with a wrist injury that he sustained at Coventry on Friday night whilst riding for Wolverhampton. Tapes go up at Derwent Park at 7pm. |

Newport 37 Stoke 55 STOKE Easy Rider Potters chalked up their first away win of the season to take the maximum four points on off as they thrashed the Newport Wasps 37-55 in the Premier Trophy at the Hayley Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Potters gained a 5-0 heat advantage in heat two from Klaus Jakobsen and Jesper Kristiansen after both Wasps riders were disqualified for separate falls giving the Potters a 3-8 lead. A further two 4-2 heat victories firstly from Jason Bunyan and Glen Phillips over former Potter Paul Fry and then Jakobsen and Phil Morris teaming up over James Holder after Jordan Frampton came to grief on the final lap gave Stoke a comfortable 7-16 lead after four heats. Morris and Kristiansen gained another 4-2 in heat six with Brent Werner splitting the Potters pairing after former Stoke skipper Mark Lemon suffered an engine failure while leading, causing Lemon to retire from the race. The Wasps nominated Jordan Frampton as a tactical ride in heat seven but to no avail as the Potter piled on the pressure with Bunyan and Phillips keeping Frampton at bay for a Stoke 5-1 heat win giving the Potters a fifteen point cushion with the scores at 13-28 at the half way stage of the meeting. Jakobsen and Tom P Madsen gained a further 4-2 in heat eight as the Potters extended their lead to seventeen points. Paul Fry came out as the Wasps second tactical ride in heat nine and he promptly took all six points on offer but the Potters packed pairing of Morris and Kristiansen packed into the minor placings to do a damage limitation job as the Wasps gained their first heat advantage scoring a 6-3 heat win, but the Potters were still in a comfortable lead at 21-35. The Wasps continued their mini fight back with a 4-2 in eleven from Frampton and James Holder over Potters skipper Lee Complin and Madsen reducing the deficit to twelve points. A further 4-2 heat advantage in heat thirteen from Lemon and Frampton over Complin and Morris this time brought the Wasps within ten points of the Potters with the scores at 35-45 and the Potters were looking over their shoulders. But the Potters finished on a high as Klaus Jakobsen took victory in heat fourteen to score his first maximum of the new season and his partner Jason Bunyan followed his partner home for a Potters 5-1 heat win over Chris Kerr and Holder. The Easy Rider Potters were not finished there though as they ended the meeting in style with a further 5-1 from Bunyan and Complin over Fry and Lemon to give the Potters a magnificent 37-55 victory. Team boss John Woolridge said “It’s been a good weekend for us although I felt we let a point slip last night at home to Birmingham but this has more than made up for it. “It was a solid team display and to come away from home and have only two last places is superb and I’m delighted. “Newport were unlucky on a couple of occasions with engine failures and falls but I think we’re due a little luck and it does even itself out over a season but take nothing away from our lads it was truly an all round team display.” Promoter Dave Tattum said “We had words with the riders during the week after last weeks performances and the riders have responded in the right way. “Now it’s up to us to continue this form into our next meeting at Somerset on Friday.” Newport 37: Paul Fry 15, Mark Lemon 6, James Holder 5, Brent Werner 5, Jordan Frampton 5, Chris Kerr 1, Kyle Hughes 0. Stoke 55: Jason Bunyan 13+1, Klaus Jakobsen 12 (Maximum), Lee Complin 9+2, Jesper Kristiansen 6+2, Phil Morris 6, Glen Phillips 5+3, Tom P Madsen 4+1. |

The Brummies response with immediate as Ludvig Lindgren and Robert Ksiezak teamed up for a 4-2 heat win in heat three before Tomasz Piszcz and Marek Mroz added to the Potters woes with a 5-1 advantage in heat four to put the Brummies 13-11 up after four heats. Birmingham extended their lead in heat five with a 4-2 advantage from Jason Lyons and Richard Sweetman over Jason Bunyan as the West Midlands outfit lead 17-13. Stoke hit back with a superb 5-1 from skipper Lee Complin and Tom P Madsen as the Potters pair team rode keep pole Tomasz Piszcz at bay until he retired from the race, putting the teams level after six heats at 18 all. In the next four heats Stoke built up a twelve point lead as Jesper Kristiansen and Phil Morris gained a 4-2 in heat seven over Robert Ksiezak, then Madsen and Jakobsen added a 5-1 in heat eight before Bunyan and Phillips gained a hard fought heat nine 4-2 over Piszcz in nine. Complin and Madsen piled on the pressure in heat ten as the Potters added another 5-1 heat win over Ksiezak and Lindgren to give the Potters a 36-24 lead after ten races. Brummies boss Graham Drury then nominated Birmingham skipper Jason Lyons as a tactical ride in heat eleven and he duly obliged with a comfortable victory and with partner Richard Sweetman following him home the Potters lead was cut to just five points to 37-32. Jakobsen and Glen Phillips edged the Potters back into a seven point lead with a 4-2 in heat twelve over Ksiezak, but the Brummies were not finished and Piszcz and Lyons combined to take a 5-1 heat win in heat thirteen over Kristiansen and Complin to reduce the deficit to just three points at 42-39. Bunyan took the race victory in heat fourteen as he held off the challenge from Ludvig Lindgren with Kristiansen taking third place for a Stoke 4-2 and give the Potters victory on the night. Piszcz took victory in heat fifteen despite the best efforts from Jason Bunyan but the Potter can take consolation of denying Brummies skipper Lyons of a maximum. Brummies took a 4-2 but it wasn’t enough to stop the Potters taking victory with a 48-45 win. Birmingham did not leave Loomer road empty handed though since they take a point from the meeting having not lost by more than seven points in the meeting. STOKE v BIRMINGHAM STOKE Easy Rider Potters promoter Dave Tattum is looking for an improved performance after he held talks with his riders over the past few days. The Potters are looking to bounce back with a victory over the Brummies after two successive defeats the last one being a humiliating 63-30 defeat against Rye House at Hoddesdon on Monday and promoter Tattum said “Last weekends performances were unacceptable and I’m looking for the lads to turn things around against Birmingham here at Loomer Road on Saturday night and at Newport on Sunday. “I’ve had talks with the riders over the past few days and we are all eager to put last weekend behind us. “It’s important we get back to winning ways not only for the club but for the supporters as well because they deserve to see a winning team.” The Potters have already beaten the Brummies in the M6 Trophy at Loomer Road when they ran out 54-41 winners and team boss John Woolridge will be looking for a similar performance if not better. The Potters have made a switch in pairings for this weekends fixtures with Tom P Madsen moving to the number two berth where he will partner skipper Lee Complin while Glen Phillips moves to number three in the team to partner his old Isle of Wight team mate Jason Bunyan. Rye House 63 Stoke 30 RYE House Rockets thrashed the Stoke Easy Rider Potters 63-30 at Hoddesdon Raceway on Bank Holiday Monday to complete the double in the Premier Trophy over the Potters. The Potters were down by ten points to two after the opening two heats before they managed to get a three all drawn heat in heat three after Robert Mear brought down Stoke’s Jason Bunyan with Mear going through the safety fence, Mear eventually getting up after some treatment on the track. Referee Christina Turnbull excluded Mear from the rerun. In the rerun Joe Haines leads comfortably for three laps, but Bunyan mounts a challenge on the last lap and swoops off the last bend to take victory by half a wheel with Tom P Madsen his partner in third the Potters gain a 4-2 heat advantage to leave the scores at 12-6 in favour of the Rockets after three heats. Rye House immediately hit back with three successive 5-1 heat advantages to extend their lead to 27-9 after six races and leave the Potters with a mountain to climb. Easy Rider Potters team manager John Woolridge gave Bunyan a tactical ride in heat seven and he duly delivered the maximum six points with partner Madsen keeping Rocket Andrew Silver at bay for a Potters 7-2 heat advantage, although the Rockets still held a comfortable lead with the score 29-16 in favour of the home side. Rye House then hit the Potters with three 5-1 heat win and four 4-2 heat advantages in the next seven heats as they romped to an easy victory. Stoke team boss Woolridge gave Lee Complin a tactical ride in heat eleven but to no avail as the home pairing of Mear and Silver kept Jesper Kristiansen and the Potters skipper at bay. In heat fifteen Rye’s Linus Sundstrom clipped the inside kerb of the track which caused him to career into Potters rider Phil Morris causing both riders to fall, both riders got up and walked back to the pits with Sundstrom being excluding from the rerun. Chris Neath got out of the start well in the rerun with Bunyan going wide into the dust but there was no way that he was going to catch home skipper Neath as he took the chequered flag for the Rockets with Bunyan in second and Morris in third for a drawn heat giving the Rockets all three points with a 63-30 victory. Potters boss John Woolridge said “I’m totally deflated with the score line and very disappointed. “I have to give credit to several riders who rode their hearts out for us but got very little in a points return on a dusty and slick track.” Promoter Dave Tattum said “It was a dismal display and we cannot allow displays like this to happen and I’ll be talking with the riders in depth about this afternoon’s performance we really do have to take a good look at ourselves because score lines like today are not acceptable.” Rye House 63: Chris Neath 14+1, Linus Sundstrom 13+2, Robert Mear 11+1, Josh Auty 9+3, Joe Haines 9, Andrew Silver 7+1, Tommy Allen R/R Stoke 30: Jason Bunyan 14, Phil Morris 6+1, Jesper Kristiansen 4, Lee Complin 3, Tom P Madsen 2, Klaus Jakobsen 1, Glen Phillips 0 |

STOKE 46 RYE HOUSE 47 A large crowd saw the slick starting Rye House Rockets take a single point victory over the Stoke Easy Rider Potters in the Premier Trophy at Loomer Road on Saturday night in a meeting that provided some top drawer racing and excellent gating. The Rockets took the lead with a 4-2 heat advantage in heat one as Linus Sundstrom took victory from home skipper Lee Complin after Complin managed to pass Chris Neath on the second lap to split the Rockets pairing. Jason Bunyan took victory in heat three in spectacular fashion as he came from last to first taking firstly youngster Joe Haines before managing to pass Robert Mear on the final turn to take the chequered flag. Sundstrom and Rye House guest reserve Josh Auty combined for a 4-2 heat advantage in heat four to extend the Rockets lead up to four points as Rye lead 10-14. A further 4-2 in heat five from Neath and Sundstrom extended the Rockets lead to six points and the lead was further extended in heat six as Rye House took a further 4-2 heat win, this time Joe Haines taking victory but behind him Tom P Madsen had got into second place for the Potters before he was overhauled by Rockets reserve Andrew Silver and then partner Complin as Madsen went to the back, Complin managing to overhaul Silver on the last lap to split the Rye House pairing. The Rockets lead 14-22 after six heats. Rye House added another 4-2 win in heat eight as the Potters slumped ten points behind the visitors Sundstrom taking victory ahead of Klaus Jakobsen. Auty managed to pass Glen Phillips to grab third place as the meeting looked to be slipping away for the Potters with the score line being 29-19. Stoke team manager John Woolridge rang the changes in heat nine as he drafted in Jesper Kristiansen in to replace Madsen and introduced Bunyan as a tactical ride. The rockets pair gated at the first time of asking but Bunyan went wide and was left no room at all when Mear blocked his move on the outside bringing Bunyan down. Grand Prix referee Tony Steele disqualified Robert Mear from the rerun. The Potters pairing gated and with Andrew Silver suffering a mechanical problem it allowed the Potters to take the full eight points advantage silver just managing to take third place as the Potters duo did their best to lap the lone rocket as he bagged the solitary point and the Potters were back into the meeting with the scores 27-30 in favour of Rye House. Stoke then piled on the pressure as they took a 4-2 in heat number ten with Lee Complin driving under Joe Haines down the back straight on lap two and Klaus Jakobsen who was in for Phillips held off Mear and Stoke were just one point adrift of the Rockets. The Potters took the lead for the first and only time in heat eleven as Jesper Kristiansen and Phil Morris team rode superbly to keep Sundstrom and Neath as bay for a 5-1 heat win and the Potters lead 36-33. Things went sour for the Potters in heat twelve as Rye House struck with a 5-1 of their own with Auty taking the displeasure of the home crowd with a head move on Jakobsen resulting in the Potters rider being left at the back of the field as he had to shut the throttle off and the Rockets were back in front. In heat thirteen the Rockets extended their lead as the Rye pairing of Auty and Neath gated home skipper Lee Complin then had a superb duel with his Rockets counterpart Neath with Complin gaining second place by no more than the width of a tyre from Neath. Rye were now 39-42 in front. Bunyan took victory in heat fourteen to setup a last heat decider. Stoke needed a 5-1 to win the meeting Complin gated but his partner Bunyan was last, Bunyan managed to pass Haines but despite his beat efforts could not catch Sundstrom so despite a 4-2 heat win for the Potters Rye House were going home with the points as the Rockets scored a 46-47 victory. Stoke team boss John Woolridge said “I’m very disappointed with losing tonight, I really did feel we could beat Rye House around here but with bike problems for a couple of our lads it was not to be. “We fought hard to get back into it after being ten points down but with three riders out of our top five scoring only three points between them we were always going to be up against it in the end. “We now have to put the result behind us and sort the problems we’ve had tonight and look forward to the next meeting at Rye House on Monday but I’m bitterly disappointed at losing out tonight.” Skipper Lee Complin commented “The team are disappointed that we’ve lost out to the Rockets tonight but we now have to put tonight behind us and look forward to the return at Hoddesdon on Monday afternoon.” Stoke 46: Jason Bunyan 15, Lee Complin 12, Jesper Kristiansen 8+1, Klaus Jakobsen 8, Phil Morris 2+1, Tom P Madsen 1, Glen Phillips 0 Rye House 47: Linus Sundstrom 13, Joe Haines 10+2, Josh Auty 10+2, Robert Mear 5+1, Chris Neath 5, Andrew Silver 4, Tommy Allen R/R. |

| STOKE Easy Rider Potters hope to continue their good home form into their Premier Trophy clash against the Rye House Rockets at Loomer Road on Saturday night at 7.30pm.
The Potters have looked untroubled around their home circuit this season and with all riders winning heats at various points during a meeting promoter Dave Tattum is confident the Potters can make it three wins on the bounce. Tattum said “The Rockets have a few talented riders who can get around here well but I feel we have the strength in depth to gain the three points against them. Chris Neath has put in some solid double figure scores both for us as a guest and against us when with Rye so he will be an obvious danger and Len (Silver) was raving about Linus Sundstrum over the winter so it will be interesting to see how he goes and there’s also Robert Mear who has been going well for them this year. It should be a good meeting and I’m hoping we can take all the points on offer.” Teams : Stoke: Lee Complin (C), Glen Phillips, Tom P Madsen, Jason Bunyan, Phil Morris, Jesper Kristiansen, Klaus Jakobsen. Rye House: Chris Neath (C) , Joe Haines, Linus Sundstrom, Robert Mear, Tommy Allen, Andrew Silver, Luke Bowen. | PREMIER TROPHY Stoke 55 Somerset 40 STOKE Easy Rider Potters moved themselves off the bottom of their Premier Trophy South group with a solid all round performance to gain a comfortable 55-40 victory over the Somerset Sharp Rebels at Loomer Road on Saturday night. The Potters opened up with two successive 4-2 heat advantages in the opening two heats and followed up with two 5-1 heat advantages from Tom P Madsen and Jason Bunyan followed immediately by Klaus Jakobsen and Phil Morris to lead 18-6 after just four heats. Rebels team manager David Croucher introduced Steve Johnston as a tactical ride in heat five but the move failed to have any impact as Potters rider Jason Bunyan took the chequered flag ahead of Johnston and with Madsen taking third after Cory Gathercole suffered his second retirement of the night due to mechanical problems left the heat drawn 4-4 maintaining Stoke’s twelve point lead. The Potters extended their lead in heat six as Glen Phillips took victory with Lee Complin blasting his way from last to second firstly passing Potters asset Tom Brown and then overhauling Justin Sedgmen as he dived up the inside of Sedgmen going down the back straight before hitting the dirt line coming off the final bend to join his partner for a Potters 5-1 extending Stoke’s lead to sixteen points making the score 27-11 in favour of the Potters. Rebels brought Emil Kramer in as a tactical ride in heat seven and Kramer took a comfortable victory over Kristiansen and Morris to give the visitors a 6-3 heat advantage making it 30-17 at the half way stage of the meeting. Klaus Jakobsen rode a hard first bend to take Rebel Gathercole wide allowing partner Glen Phillips into second place leaving the Stoke pairing to take a comfortable 5-1 extending the Easy Rider Potters lead up to seventeen points at 35-18 after eight heats. The Rebels had a mini revival with two heat advantages on the bounce with a 4-2 heat win from Simon Walker and Emil Kramer in heat ten and this was followed with a 5-1 from Cory Gathercole and Rebels skipper Steve Johnston in heat eleven as the Rebels reduced the deficit to eleven points with the score at 41-30. Stoke extended their lead in twelve as Jakobsen took his fourth victory of the night with partner Tom P Madsen who had his best night of the season in the Potters colours as they took a hard fought 5-1 after Simon Walker pushed the pairing all the way before falling going into the first turn on the final lap as he tried to pass the Potters duo. Despite Walker’s attempts to remove himself and the bike from the track referee Graham Reeve has no alternative but to stop the race and award the result. A 4-2 from Jason Bunyan and Kristiansen in heat fourteen sealed all three points for the Potters although Cory Gathercole showed what may have been for the Rebels as he stormed to victory in heat fifteen to head home Bunyan and Johnston ruining Jakobsen’s hopes of taking a five ride maximum as the Rebels gained a 4-2 heat advantage but it was not enough for the Rebels and they left Loomer Road empty handed as the Easy Rider Potters ran out victors 55-40. Scorers: Stoke 55: Klaus Jakobsen 12, Jason Bunyan 10+1, Tom P Madsen 9+1, Lee Complin 9+1, Glen Phillips 6+1, Phil Morris 5+3, Jesper Kristiansen 4. | 2008-07-02 | Progress |
| Hi Everyone Its been a while since it was me that updated my own website in my own words and it is great to finally be able to do so. I can assure you all that I am now on the road to recovery and I have begun my physio training as well as training at the gym to regain the weight I have lost and get my fitness back up. With the progress I have been making I am hoping to be back on a bike with this next month. I have certainly not been put off riding and I wish I could race now. My operation went well and everything is healing as it should be. I am now looking forward to my return and seeing you all again. I would like to clear something up too. While I was in hospital I was up and walking about unlike some rumours would suggest. Right now I am frustrated by not being able to ride, but I am going in the right direction and I will be back soon. Finally I am looking for a new van sponsor as my van has now been rented out. If anyone can help with a van or funding for a van, please could you contact David Green at Bextec Solutions (david.green@bextecsolutions.co.uk) who is currently receiving my emails. Lee |

| 2008-06-21 | Complin Targets Comback |
| by Neil Evans Stoke Eazy Rider Potters captain Lee Complin has been released from hospital - and has quickly set his sights on returning to action. The 23-year-old broke his neck in two places after his Subaru Impreza left the road during the early hours of Monday, May 26 and turned over. The accident occurred close Complin's home in the West Yorkshire village of Cowling on the A629 near Keighley. He was initially taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary before being transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where he underwent surgery. Speaking for the first time since the accident, Complin said: "The medical staff were just brilliant and I thanked them as I left the hospital. Apart from the obvious, they helped me regain my memory," he said. "I can't remember anything about the accident and I didn't even know my family when I first came round. "Just being at home will be a big help because I can sleep the hours I want and start eating and drinking more. "Since I recovered from the chest infection, I've moved on fairly quickly and I was walking three days after they moved me to a different ward. "I had a few visitors, such as Garry Stead and Sean Wilson, and that helped me feel positive and motivated. "I've never struggled with that and I see no point in being negative. The accident happened - but I'll get back to full fitness and the intention is to get back on a bike as soon as I can." However, Complin must first continue his rehabilitation programme before contemplating a riding return at Loomer Road. "I have nothing to do for a couple of weeks, but then I have got to start a physiotherapy programme," he explained. "I think once I have a pattern or programme for what needs doing, I will be able to go to a local physio. "After that, I intend to get back in the gym as quickly as I possibly can. "It was my build and strength that helped pull me through, according to the doctors, and all those hours in the gym over the winter certainly paid off. "So I want to get back into a routine because I have lost two stone in weight and I need to build up my weight, strength and stamina again." Complin's father, Dean, added: "He has amazed the medical staff how quickly he has got back on his feet and I really do think he will push himself as much as he is able to. "I can't tell you how relieved we are as a family. "When you think that it is less than four weeks since the accident, Lee has made a remarkable recovery and it's just great to have him back home with us. "It's no wonder I call him Captain Scarlet." |

| 2008-06-10 | Latest News About Lee From James Complin |
| I’d just like to say first of all thanks for all your patience in waiting for news
on Lee’s progress. As you can imagine it’s been a very tough time for myself and Mum & Dad, but at long last I can now tell you the fantastic news that Lee is now out of intensive care and fully conscious, and looks to be well on the way to being his usual self. He’s already been asking about his bikes, but the hardest part was telling him he’d missed the British Final – we’ve told him not to worry there’s always next year! Once again I’d like to thank the wonderful team at the hospital for the tremendous care they have given to Lee and all the family during the last few weeks. It’s great to have Lee heading back to his old self, and hopefully he’ll be able to give you a report in his own words soon. James |

| SPEEDWAY: COMPLIN'S FAMILY TOUCHED BY RESPONSE OF SUPPORTERS Stoke captain Lee Complin remains in a stable, but critical, condition in the neurology unit at Leeds General Infirmary a week after his car accident in Yorkshire. The 23-year-old's Subaru Impreza left the A629 near Keighley, just a few miles from his home in the West Yorkshire village of Cowling at about 3.40am last Monday. He was initially taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary before being transferred to Leeds, where he has undergone surgery, although the precise nature and extent of the injuries have not been released. Complin joined Stoke last season and quickly became a fans's favourite, prompting a number of clubs, including Sheffield Tigers, to try to sign him for the 2008 season. He opted to remain at Loomer Road and his popularity throughout the sport has seen hundreds of well-wishers from across the country post messages on his website. And, according to his father, Dean, who has been touched by the response from supporters to his son's plight, there has been a slight improvement in Complin's condition, although he still remains sedated. "We genuinely feel that his condition is going the right way," he said. "He is still a bit up and down in truth. Last night was a good one whereas the night before was not so good. But the signs do seem to be suggesting that his progress is heading in the right direction. "He had an operation last Thursday which was deemed successful by the surgeons, but we won't know the extent of how much Lee is recovering or otherwise until he wakes up. "The difficulty now is that he has a chest infection. That, apparently, is not that unusual, but it is creating some complications and that is the reason Lee is sedated." Complin is in the same hospital that treated the television presenter Richard Hammond following his much-publicised high-speed crash last year and Complin snr is full of praise for the hospital staff. "The staff - from the specialists and surgeons through to the nurses - are absolutely brilliant and keep us fully informed about everything," he added. "Nothing is too much trouble and there is a nurse constantly monitoring Lee's progress. "We have been told that the operation last week was a success and once the chest infection has cleared up I think they will try to bring Lee around. The only way in which we will know how Lee is responding is when he comes out of the sedation. "We are very strong as a family and we are trying to remain positive, but realistic. There is no doubt that Lee was involved in a very bad accident and that his condition remains critical. "But the lad is a fighter and we are keeping everything crossed for him." Complin snr declined to go in to too much detail regarding Lee's injuries, preferring to wait for any significant change in his son's condition - although he thanked fans for their support and good wishes. "I know that the Stoke public want to know how Lee is and I can assure you that we will keep you informed fully as and when I have something definite to say. "That will be the case whether it be positive or not so good news. "To be honest, the response from supporters in general has been absolutely phenomenal and it really has touched us all how popular Lee is. "That has given us strength and I'm sure Lee will feel the same when the time is right. He added: "We'd just like to thank all those supporters and sponsors everywhere and I assure you we will keep you updated." |

| 2008-05-08 | Story So Far |
| Hi Everyone So far my season is ok to a point. I have had a few teething problems but I have managed to sort them out. I am scoring well at home and away although I could do with some more meetings and some guest bookings, the rain offs we have suffered have not helped, track time is what I need, and I haven't had a lot of that lately. I am still working on getting some sponsors together and the new race suit has arrived. The bike covers are still being made, although I am assured that they will be ready any time soon. Lee |

| 2008-03-27 | Seasons Here |
| Sorry for the long delay with the latest news update, I have been that busy
getting ready for the new season that I simply forgot to do one. Well here we are in 2008 and the season is already under way. I had a good Press and Practice and it was good to meet the rest of the team for this year. I have also been asked to be captain at Stoke this year, which is a great honour. It's been a pretty bad time for us with rain offs already, but we finally got going at Newcastle, where I had the wrong set up in the first race. However after that I got going and had some good races and it felt good to be back on a bike, almost like I had never been away. Back home at Stoke and I had a great meeting. I realy enjoyed my races with Havvy and the rest of the lads. I missed the start in the last race and lost too much gound to make up so I slotted in for a 3-3. So it is back to Sheffield tonight and I am looking forward to a good meeting. Lee |
