| 2008-07-02 | Progress |
| Hi Everyone Its been a while since it was me that updated my own website in my own words and it is great to finally be able to do so. I can assure you all that I am now on the road to recovery and I have begun my physio training as well as training at the gym to regain the weight I have lost and get my fitness back up. With the progress I have been making I am hoping to be back on a bike with this next month. I have certainly not been put off riding and I wish I could race now. My operation went well and everything is healing as it should be. I am now looking forward to my return and seeing you all again. I would like to clear something up too. While I was in hospital I was up and walking about unlike some rumours would suggest. Right now I am frustrated by not being able to ride, but I am going in the right direction and I will be back soon. Finally I am looking for a new van sponsor as my van has now been rented out. If anyone can help with a van or funding for a van, please could you contact David Green at Bextec Solutions (david.green@bextecsolutions.co.uk) who is currently receiving my emails. Lee |

| 2008-06-21 | Complin Targets Comback |
| by Neil Evans Stoke Eazy Rider Potters captain Lee Complin has been released from hospital - and has quickly set his sights on returning to action. The 23-year-old broke his neck in two places after his Subaru Impreza left the road during the early hours of Monday, May 26 and turned over. The accident occurred close Complin's home in the West Yorkshire village of Cowling on the A629 near Keighley. He was initially taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary before being transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where he underwent surgery. Speaking for the first time since the accident, Complin said: "The medical staff were just brilliant and I thanked them as I left the hospital. Apart from the obvious, they helped me regain my memory," he said. "I can't remember anything about the accident and I didn't even know my family when I first came round. "Just being at home will be a big help because I can sleep the hours I want and start eating and drinking more. "Since I recovered from the chest infection, I've moved on fairly quickly and I was walking three days after they moved me to a different ward. "I had a few visitors, such as Garry Stead and Sean Wilson, and that helped me feel positive and motivated. "I've never struggled with that and I see no point in being negative. The accident happened - but I'll get back to full fitness and the intention is to get back on a bike as soon as I can." However, Complin must first continue his rehabilitation programme before contemplating a riding return at Loomer Road. "I have nothing to do for a couple of weeks, but then I have got to start a physiotherapy programme," he explained. "I think once I have a pattern or programme for what needs doing, I will be able to go to a local physio. "After that, I intend to get back in the gym as quickly as I possibly can. "It was my build and strength that helped pull me through, according to the doctors, and all those hours in the gym over the winter certainly paid off. "So I want to get back into a routine because I have lost two stone in weight and I need to build up my weight, strength and stamina again." Complin's father, Dean, added: "He has amazed the medical staff how quickly he has got back on his feet and I really do think he will push himself as much as he is able to. "I can't tell you how relieved we are as a family. "When you think that it is less than four weeks since the accident, Lee has made a remarkable recovery and it's just great to have him back home with us. "It's no wonder I call him Captain Scarlet." |

| 2008-06-10 | Latest News About Lee From James Complin |
| I’d just like to say first of all thanks for all your patience in waiting for news
on Lee’s progress. As you can imagine it’s been a very tough time for myself and Mum & Dad, but at long last I can now tell you the fantastic news that Lee is now out of intensive care and fully conscious, and looks to be well on the way to being his usual self. He’s already been asking about his bikes, but the hardest part was telling him he’d missed the British Final – we’ve told him not to worry there’s always next year! Once again I’d like to thank the wonderful team at the hospital for the tremendous care they have given to Lee and all the family during the last few weeks. It’s great to have Lee heading back to his old self, and hopefully he’ll be able to give you a report in his own words soon. James |

| SPEEDWAY: COMPLIN'S FAMILY TOUCHED BY RESPONSE OF SUPPORTERS Stoke captain Lee Complin remains in a stable, but critical, condition in the neurology unit at Leeds General Infirmary a week after his car accident in Yorkshire. The 23-year-old's Subaru Impreza left the A629 near Keighley, just a few miles from his home in the West Yorkshire village of Cowling at about 3.40am last Monday. He was initially taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary before being transferred to Leeds, where he has undergone surgery, although the precise nature and extent of the injuries have not been released. Complin joined Stoke last season and quickly became a fans's favourite, prompting a number of clubs, including Sheffield Tigers, to try to sign him for the 2008 season. He opted to remain at Loomer Road and his popularity throughout the sport has seen hundreds of well-wishers from across the country post messages on his website. And, according to his father, Dean, who has been touched by the response from supporters to his son's plight, there has been a slight improvement in Complin's condition, although he still remains sedated. "We genuinely feel that his condition is going the right way," he said. "He is still a bit up and down in truth. Last night was a good one whereas the night before was not so good. But the signs do seem to be suggesting that his progress is heading in the right direction. "He had an operation last Thursday which was deemed successful by the surgeons, but we won't know the extent of how much Lee is recovering or otherwise until he wakes up. "The difficulty now is that he has a chest infection. That, apparently, is not that unusual, but it is creating some complications and that is the reason Lee is sedated." Complin is in the same hospital that treated the television presenter Richard Hammond following his much-publicised high-speed crash last year and Complin snr is full of praise for the hospital staff. "The staff - from the specialists and surgeons through to the nurses - are absolutely brilliant and keep us fully informed about everything," he added. "Nothing is too much trouble and there is a nurse constantly monitoring Lee's progress. "We have been told that the operation last week was a success and once the chest infection has cleared up I think they will try to bring Lee around. The only way in which we will know how Lee is responding is when he comes out of the sedation. "We are very strong as a family and we are trying to remain positive, but realistic. There is no doubt that Lee was involved in a very bad accident and that his condition remains critical. "But the lad is a fighter and we are keeping everything crossed for him." Complin snr declined to go in to too much detail regarding Lee's injuries, preferring to wait for any significant change in his son's condition - although he thanked fans for their support and good wishes. "I know that the Stoke public want to know how Lee is and I can assure you that we will keep you informed fully as and when I have something definite to say. "That will be the case whether it be positive or not so good news. "To be honest, the response from supporters in general has been absolutely phenomenal and it really has touched us all how popular Lee is. "That has given us strength and I'm sure Lee will feel the same when the time is right. He added: "We'd just like to thank all those supporters and sponsors everywhere and I assure you we will keep you updated." |

| 2008-05-08 | Story So Far |
| Hi Everyone So far my season is ok to a point. I have had a few teething problems but I have managed to sort them out. I am scoring well at home and away although I could do with some more meetings and some guest bookings, the rain offs we have suffered have not helped, track time is what I need, and I haven't had a lot of that lately. I am still working on getting some sponsors together and the new race suit has arrived. The bike covers are still being made, although I am assured that they will be ready any time soon. Lee |

| 2008-03-27 | Seasons Here |
| Sorry for the long delay with the latest news update, I have been that busy
getting ready for the new season that I simply forgot to do one. Well here we are in 2008 and the season is already under way. I had a good Press and Practice and it was good to meet the rest of the team for this year. I have also been asked to be captain at Stoke this year, which is a great honour. It's been a pretty bad time for us with rain offs already, but we finally got going at Newcastle, where I had the wrong set up in the first race. However after that I got going and had some good races and it felt good to be back on a bike, almost like I had never been away. Back home at Stoke and I had a great meeting. I realy enjoyed my races with Havvy and the rest of the lads. I missed the start in the last race and lost too much gound to make up so I slotted in for a 3-3. So it is back to Sheffield tonight and I am looking forward to a good meeting. Lee |

| 2007-12-04 | Stoke Return |
| Hi everyone Well as a lot of you may have seen in the news yesterday, I have signed to return to Stoke for the 2008 Season. I decided that after having such a good year there this year, it would be best for me to go back and hopefully bring some silverware back to Loomer Road. I was really hoping to double up next season in the Elite League, but due to the rule changes that is now not possible. I am however hoping that I will get some guest bookings so I can keep testing myself. On the injury front, I have now had my pot off and my foot is healing well, although it is still very sore, the main thing it is getting better. Lee |

| 2007-11-15 | Statement |
| After two seasons racing for and several more years contracted to Sheffield
Speedway I have felt the need to hand in a transfer request due to personal
reasons. My wish is to move to a new club, which has the potential to fulfil my ambitions and to further my career over the next few crucial years. I am excited about the future. I want to race at the highest possible level and to achieve the most I can out of speedway, which is why my next club is so important. I would like to publicly thank the outstanding Sheffield Speedway fans for their support during the two seasons which I spent there. Lee |

| 2007-10-15 | Injury Latest |
| Well I have broken 4 out of my 5 metatarsal's in a racing accident at Glasgow yesterday. As well as that I manged to dislocate some toes too, which might need an operation depending on how they set. I am on my way to the hospital now to see how things are setting and to get a further diagnostic. I am quite battered and bruised at the moment as I managed to also rip a muscle in my bicep which is quite sore. All I remember is that I cleared the fence and landed near the wall between the 1st and 2nd turns. I will give you a further update later today once I get back from the hospital. |

| 2007-10-08 | Captain Lee |
| Well on Firday night I had a bit of a nightmare meeting. I struggled all night to get
the bike going and hook up. I was making the starts but nothing else. In my last ride I did however have a really good race with Richie Hawkins, we both went round each other through out the race and I managed to beat him into 2nd place in the end. On Saturday we had the return leg for the Young Shield and I was made captian for the night. The track was not as grippy as usual and we all found it a little to slick, but we all pulled together and got the result we needed to advance to the next stage. I had a great heat 15 and again it was in a race with Richie Hawkins, I left the gate in 3rd place and had to chase Richie all the way. Then on the final turn I swept out to the fence and found some dirt that let me cut right back up the inside of him and win it on the line. That was enough to win the meeting over two legs and get us through to the next round. Sunday I got a late call up to ride for Somerset at Newport. Only this time I went and had an off night. I used the wrong engine for the track this time and I was chasing a decent set up all afternoon. I only managed 5 points and ended the meeting a little dissapointed. As some of you have seen there has been a post on the Speedway Forum about me looking for sponsors for next year. if you are interested please email sponsors@leecomplin.co.uk and Dave Green at Bextec Solutions will ensure that the emails are passed on and also your offers are seen to. | 2007-10-05 | Thank You's |
| I have to start his news update with a massive thank to Ian Gutteridge
for being my mechanic at Swindon last night, his help and input in the pits was
absolutley superb, and then for him to offer me a bed for the night too. A special
mention must also go to his son, Brandon, who gave up his bed for me. Ian is also kindly mechainicing again for me tonight at Somerset. Without Ian help last night I doubt I would have been able to do the meeting, let alone score any points. In the meeting itself, Leigh Adams was a great help, i managed to find all the racing lines and really enjoyed myself. Lee |

| 2007-10-04 | Crashes, PLRC, Swindon |
| Sorry for not being in touch for a week, I have been quite busy. Lat Thursday I was back at Sheffield, where I didnt have a bad meeting, but I did end up a little battered and bruised. I crashed in my last ride and put a deep cut into my finger, as well as someother cuts and bruises. As well and me being battered and bruised I managed to bend the rear of my bike too. Then to cap the night off I lost a chain inthe run off with Andre for the bonus point. Sadly I had to pull out of the trip to Edinburgh on Friday night, so that I could recover. On Saturday I was called up to ride in Sunday's PLRC at Swindon, so I had a mad dash to get my bikes ready. In the meeting itself I didnt get off to a great start, as I was taken off twice by Emil Kramer and Jack Rampala, then the rest of the meeting I never really got going again and finished the night on only 5 points. I was a little dissappointed for my first time in the event, but then there is always next year. I am currently on my way down to Swindon to guest for them tonight, then tomorrow I will be in Somerset with Stoke. Lee |
|
| 2007-09-27 | Maximum |
| I had a good night at stoke against berwick last night by scoring a paid max. The track was slick with a soft patch on the inside which worked to my advantage and I showed everyone I can ride inside as well as the outside. Tonight I am at Sheffield with Stoke for the return leg of our challenge match. Then on Friday I am up in Edinburgh. I will update you all after all these meetings. Lee |

| 2007-09-21 | Crashes & Guesting |
| Well lets start with my trip to Birmingham. I think it can be classed as expensive, to say the least, as I have completely written off my first bike. Im my first ride I tangled heavily with Paul Hurry. He was off gate 4 and I was on 3, Paul leaned on me slightly and thats caused us to get tangled and slide off, crashing heavily. I managed to hurt my hip, take some more skin off my arm and tweak my neck a little. I stayed on the deck for a while to recover from everything hurting. As my main bike was totalled, I swapped the clutch over to my 2nd bike, made some adjustments and continued in the meeting and went on to have a fairly decent night. I won my first 3 rides, which included a tactical ride win, then in my 4th ride I managed to team ride with Claus to get a 5-1. In my last ride of the night in heat 15 I made a decent gate, only for Jason Lyons to Go round the outside of me on the back straight. I tried chasing, but I could not make any ground on him. Last night I was back in Peterborough as a guest. This time I was riding at number one in place of Hans Andersen. It was a good meeting, and I scored 6+1, which was made up of a win and 3 thirds. | 2007-09-17 | Update |
| Well I am still a little sore from dislocating my shoulder. In my first race at Rye House I got pushed out over the camber of turn2 1 and 2 by Tai Woffinden and the bike spat me off and out popped my sholder. I don't think that it will keep me out of action this week, and I am having some physio to keep it healing quicker. I will be keeping you all informed how I progress. Lee |
|
| 2007-09-14 | Dislocated shoulder |
| Not quite the end to the weekend that i had hoped for. In my 2nd ride a Rye House I dislocated my shouder. I am little sore at the moment but I will update you more on the weekend tomorrow Lee |

| 2007-09-13 | Peterborough |
| Well I had a good night last night at Peterborough. In my first ride I got in the middle of a first bend bunch with Scott Nicholls, so the race got restarted and I came last in the rerun, but I wan't far off the pace. In my 2nd race I was the rider replacement for Niels Iversen, agian I came last due to me having the wrong gearing on. Then it all seemed to click, as in my 3rd ride I raced from the back, passing Rory Schlein to partner Hans Andersen for a 5-1. Then I got another 2nd place in my next one. In my last ride I got a third, but I could'nt quite get the run round the outside to take 2nd place. All in all I enjoyed my night down there and I even got the rider of the night award. I really liked the track too as it was nice and grippy. Back to cleaning my bikes now Lee |

| 2007-09-12 | Off to Peterborough |
| Just to let you all know I Am on my way down to Peterborough tonight as they have asked me to do a guest booking for them Talk to you all later Lee |

| 2007-09-08 | Track Record |
| Hi Everyone Well that seems to have been a busy week. Friday I was down in Somerset, where I had a few clutch problems and I was just not getting out of the starts. I was able to race from the back in most of the heats, but it did make things difficult for me and I found I was spinning all night. Once back at Stoke last night I got my setups and clutch problems sorted ready for the first race. I jumped out of the start and just went for it and in doing so I broke the track record. The rest of the meeting went well after that, I won my next race, followed by a 2nd place behind Jason Lyons. Then in my 4th race I struggled to pass Claus and by the time I did, I gained a lot of ground, but not enough to make any more passes. For my fith ride of the night, I was off 15 meters on a tactical ride, which I won after some great team riding with Rusty Harrison. That was some of the best team riding I have done since I last rode with Sean Wilson at Sheffield. Finally in Heat 15 I went of gate 4 and made a start, but the race was stopped and restarted, but Jason Lyons, made a better start and I couldn't get enought momentum to get past him. I am now off for a well earned rest. Lee |

| 2007-09-07 | New Gallery Online |
| Well Finally we have got the gallery online and you can see all my current photos. Shortly we will be adding a section from when I started out on the grass and also from Sheffield Wendesday night at Kings Lynn didn't go according to plan. In my first race I made a good start only to suffer a puncture. In my 2nd ride I didnt quite have my setup quite right and I missed the start. In my 3rd race I was on a double and I was leading into the first turn, only then for my chain to snap, I just couldnt catch a break. Then in my final race I had great race with Thomas Topinka, where I very nearly got him on the line. If it wasn't for the gremlins I am sure I would have scored more points, but thats the way it goes sometimes. I am currently on my way down to Somerset for tonights meeting and I will update you as soon as I can Lee |
|
| 2007-09-05 | IOW Score |
| Hi Everyone The meeting went fairly well last night and I managed to score double figures, which is no mean feat against the IOW boys. The Track didn't seem as good as it was last time, but I made a couple of good starts and it all worked out well for me. I did however, have one scary moment where going into one of the turns I went for some dirt but there wasn't any and I hit the fence. Luckily I recovered to finish 2nd. Right Time to go to Kings Lynn Talk to you all later Lee |
|
| 2007-09-04 | IOW Bound |
| Hey Everyone Well I am off to the IOW today, guesting for Sheffield again. So now I need to get some food and set off. Talk to you all later Lee |
|
| 2007-09-02 | Busy Weekend |
| Hello everyone Well Friday night I raced for Sheffield in Edinburgh and scored 10+1. I took a while to get my bike setup right, I took the bike I last used at Sheffield, but finally towards the end of the meeting I got it just right and finished with a 2nd place and two wins. Then last night at Berwick I made a good start to the meeting, winning my first race on the last corner, but I was struggling making any starts. In my 2nd race I had to settle for 2nd place. In my 3rd race I had a good race and got 2nd place on the last corner having used the banking to good effect In my 4th ride I managed another win, then I was nominated in heat 15, well I missed the start and got squeezed out, by which time there was too much ground to make up. Well now I am on my way to Stoke for tonights meeting and I will be updating again tomorrow lunch time. Lee |

| 2007-08-31 | Guesting again |
| Just to let you all know I will be guesting for Sheffield at Edinburgh tonight. I will let you all know how I get on later tonight. Lee |
|
| 2007-08-30 | Guest Booking |
| Last night I guested for Mildenhall in place of Kyle Legault. The booking was very much last minute, and it was a bit of a rush to get there. The meeting went really well, yet the track was slicker than last time I was there. The Birmingham lads were really on form and I had a good race with Jason Lyons in heat 12 where he just got me on the line. I made the gate in the final heat, but I got sandwiched between the Birmingham riders and I could not make up the ground after that. Overall I was really happy with the 11 points I scored.>br/> Right I must now get my bikes ready for a busy weekend with an away trip to Berwick on Saturday and then home at Stoke on Sunday Talk to you all soon Lee |

| 2007-08-25 | Keeping it Going |
| Hi Everyone Well things have calmed down a bit now and I have had chance to collect my thoughts. Well what a night of speedway for Garry, there was some fantastic racing and a great atmosphere from all you fans.>br/> Firstly before I talk about my performance and feelings, I would just like to send Richard Hall my best wishes for a speedy recovery from his injuries. And I also hope that Moggo was not to seriously hurt. So, what a night I had. The track was a lot better that when I visited with Stoke a few weeks back. Then I started to make some semi decent starts (which is not like me), but I did enough to qulaify for the Semi Finals. In my Semi I just made a decent start and held on for the win. Then came that final, wow!!, How did I manage to gain that much ground??!! I was getting closer and closer, but on the third lap I just got filled in and I lost a lot of ground on Freddie, then out of nowhere I picked up loads of drive and it just catapulted me forwards. Then I saw the smallest of gaps on the outside of him and I just went for it. What a win, I am stil buzzing today!! I wouldn't have missed this meeting for the world, and I was proud to be there to support Garry. This win was for him! Last night at Stoke, I continued my good form. In my first race my inner tube went and forced me to retire, but the rest of the meeting went very well, with four more wins, including heat 15. The new photos are currently being added to the new gallery and we are setting up a system so that I can reply to your guestbook messages. Right, I have bikes to clean, talk to you all next time. Lee |

| 2007-08-23 | Winner |
| Well what a night and what a fantastic turnout for Garry. Firstly what do you think of the new kevlars and bike covers? I hope you like it. Its good to get into my own kit. Now tonight was more like the Sheffield I remember, it produced some great racing, and then for me to win the meeting was just fantastic. I will gather my thoughts and give you a full update soon, plus the new photos will be added to the website soon Thanks Lee |

| 2007-08-17 | First Taste of Elite |
| Well What a night to make my Elite League Debut. Firstly we got stuck in traffic and only just arrived in time to make the start in heat two. We literally got the main bike out, tightend the clutch and away we went. The first heat was my only point of the whole evening, but I enjoyed my first taste of Elite League racing. Tomorrow I will be back at Stoke against Birmingham and I will report as soon as I can. Well Now I have phoned mt report in, I need to find my way home out of Reading and hope that it doesnt take the hours it took to get here. In other news, I must say a huge thank you to K&N Filters who have supplied my filters for the remainder of the season. And of course I must thank Bextec Solutions for securing the sponsorship. Talk to you all again soon Lee |

| 2007-08-14 | News 14th Aug |
| Hello everyone Sorry I havent been in touch sooner. I have been busy with all sorts of stuff. What a busy week I am having so far. I have picked up two guest bookings this week. one for Berwick at Birminghamon Wednesday and then Friday I have been asked to ride for Reading in Reading. I am looking forward to both matches and I will be doing my best to score some points for them both. Thankfully my clutch problems from a few weeks ago are now sorted, which is a relief as I don't have to worry about them for a while again. A few weeks ago you may have noticed that I guested for Berwick down in Newport. Well I had another good meeting down there and score a 15 point maximum. I know there are some issues over the result now, which I hope get resolved soon. A fortnight ago I went back to my former club Sheffield with Stoke and I was hoping for a good night, but things were not to be. I spent most of the meeting trying to stop the engine from spinning, then to cap the night off I shed a chain in my last ride. Looking back the Sheffield track is not how I remembered it, as I remember there being a lot more dirt on, there there seems to be today. So Last Sunday was washed out at Glasgow, but that gave me time to keep working on drawing in some funding for the new chassis I have bought, of which I will be revealing soon along with a few other new bits. Talk to you all again soon Lee |
|
| 2007-07-21 | Burnt Out Clutch |
| Hi Everybody. Well what a night. After my second ride with its numerous restarts, my clutch burnt out! This caused me problems for the rest of the evening. So it's back to the workshop to to do some work on my clutch. Speak to you all soon Lee |
|
| 2007-07-20 | Welcome Back |
| Well where do I start?? Firstly what do you think of the new website? I think it looks great and alot of hard work has gone into it, to get it live this week. In a few weeks time we are going to be changing the photos on the site, as my new race suit and kevlars are currently being made and we can tie everything to gether then. So the comback! A lot has been said about it already in the press, but let me simply say this. The time was right to come back and have another go, so here we are trying to pick up where I left off. Last year I had a really good year with CCM in the UK Short Track Championship and my thanks got out to them for all their support and encouragement. Riding for Stoke. I am loving riding for Stoke and a big thank you to them for offering me a team place. I am also really enjoying just riding speedway again and I cant wait from meeting to meeting to get back on the bike and race. So far I am doing really well scoring well at home and away. Of course all of this would not be possible without the help, time and dedication from my sponsors. So I would like to thank, Sean Wilson (SWR), Coyote Racing, Burnt Tree Van Hire, Eazy Oils, Bextec Solutions, NGK, Ozchem, JHR, Joe Hughes, Teng Tools, Disease and TC Graphics Sponsorship Currently I am looking for more sponsorship, so if you would like to join our team, please have a look at my sponsorship page for more details. The Future I would like to get into the GP Series and mix it with the best of them. I beleive I have the ability and confidence to get there and achieve some sucess. Talk to you all again soon Lee |
